You are entirely responsible for what you write — in any language. We will remove content that violates these rules and refund you if we do. Payment does not guarantee publication. Quality does.
Read these Terms before you pay. Clicking "Pay" is a legally binding confirmation that you have read, understood, and accepted everything on this page. "I didn't read it" is not a defence, is not grounds for a refund, and will not be accepted as an excuse for a violation. These Terms exist to protect the archive — and everyone in it.
Own A Sentence ("the Service", "we", "us", "our") operates the website at ownasentence.com. The Service allows individuals to purchase a permanent, publicly displayed sentence slot for a one-time fee of $10.00 USD. A total of 1,000,000 sentence slots are available. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Service and form a legally binding agreement between you and Own A Sentence.
By accessing the website, submitting a sentence, or completing a purchase, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in full. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
This is an archive, not a social network. There are no followers, no algorithms, no feed optimisation, and no engagement metrics. The only thing that matters here is the sentence itself. We do not care how much you paid. We care about what you wrote.
You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase a sentence slot. By completing a purchase, you represent and warrant that:
We reserve the right to request age verification at any time. Sentences purchased by individuals under 18 will be removed and fully refunded upon discovery.

You are purchasing a slot in a permanent public archive, not a private communication channel, not a marketing platform, and not an anonymous publishing service. Every sentence is publicly visible to the entire world, permanently, without restriction on who may read it.
Your sentence is permanent and uneditable once payment is confirmed. This is a core feature of the Service — the archive is immutable by design. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Read your sentence three times before paying. There are no edits, no corrections, no substitutions, and no second chances after purchase. Typos, spelling errors, autocorrect mistakes, regretted phrasings, and change of mind are not grounds for a refund under any circumstances.

We strongly advise you to draft your sentence elsewhere first, read it aloud, sleep on it, and only then submit it. The permanence is a feature. Treat it accordingly.
Completing payment does not guarantee that your sentence will be published. Payment confirms your intent to claim a slot, subject to moderation and compliance with these Terms.
We do not care that you paid. We care what you wrote. The $10.00 fee exists to give the archive permanence and seriousness — not to grant you the right to publish anything you choose. If your sentence violates our Content Policy, it will be removed and you will be refunded. The payment amount confers no editorial privilege whatsoever.
Publication is conditional on your sentence passing moderation. Moderation checks for compliance with Section 6. A sentence that passes moderation is published permanently. A sentence that fails is rejected and refunded. There is no negotiation, no appeal, and no partial publication.
Payment is processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your card number, CVV, or banking details. By completing payment you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.
Refunds are issued only in the following circumstances:
Refunds are not issued for: change of mind, typographical errors, dissatisfaction with placement or numbering, dissatisfaction with the moderation outcome where no Content Policy violation existed, or sentences rejected due to your own deliberate violation of the Content Policy.
Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days to your original payment method.
You are solely, entirely, and unconditionally responsible for the content of your sentence. This responsibility does not transfer to Own A Sentence at any point — not upon payment, not upon approval, not upon publication. By submitting, you represent and warrant that your sentence complies fully with everything in this section.
This archive is built to last. We are not building a repository of spam, hatred, threats, or promotional material. We are building a permanent record of honest human expression. Sentences that do not belong in that record will be removed.

Moderation decisions are final. We do not enter into correspondence about individual moderation outcomes beyond confirming whether a refund has been issued.
Own A Sentence is an English-language platform. The interface, moderation team, search system, and all communications operate in English. However, sentence content submitted in any language is accepted, subject to all conditions in this section.
The Content Policy in Section 7 applies in full to every sentence, in every language, in every script. Writing your sentence in Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or any other language does not reduce, limit, or modify your responsibility for its content in any way. The fact that our automated moderation systems operate primarily in English does not create a loophole. It does not mean non-English content is unmonitored. It does not mean harmful content in other languages will be tolerated.
"I wrote it in another language" is not a defence. If your sentence contains hate speech, threats, defamation, or illegal content in any language, it will be removed, you will not receive a refund, and where applicable, the matter will be reported to relevant authorities. The language of the content is irrelevant to the standard we hold it to.
Sentences written in non-Latin scripts (including Cyrillic, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and others) are processed as follows:
This system is designed to give non-English speakers the same fast, seamless experience as English speakers. It is not designed to be lenient. The bar for what constitutes a violation is identical regardless of language.
If you encounter a sentence in any language that you believe violates our Content Policy, use the Report button on the sentence's page. If the sentence page is unavailable or the issue is urgent, use the contact page and include the sentence number if possible. You do not need to translate the content. We will obtain a translation and act accordingly. Reports of illegal content will be escalated to relevant authorities.
Reports and contact submissions are for genuine Own A Sentence safety, legal, abuse, support, or rights-related matters only. Unrelated spam, promotional messages, automated abuse, or malicious submissions may be blocked, logged, and used to restrict future access from the sender, sending domain, IP address, or related infrastructure.
The search system on ownasentence.com is optimised for Latin-script languages (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and all European languages including Slavic and Romanian scripts). Cyrillic and Arabic script searches are supported via a dedicated index. CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) search support may be limited depending on server configuration at the time of your purchase. We make no warranty that sentences in all languages will be fully discoverable via the search function. Permanent display on individual sentence pages is not affected by search limitations.
You retain all copyright and intellectual property rights in the original content of your sentence, to the extent such rights exist under applicable law.
By submitting a sentence, you grant Own A Sentence an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, distribute, and use your sentence as part of the Service, including in derivative works such as printed editions, data exports, API responses, press coverage, and promotional materials. This licence survives any termination or discontinuation of the Service.
You warrant that your sentence does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party and that you have the right to grant the licence described above.
Own A Sentence, including but not limited to its name, branding, logo, website design, software, source code, architecture, databases, certificates, graphics, documentation, moderation systems, APIs, and all associated intellectual property, is owned exclusively by Assist Control S.R.L., except where otherwise stated or where third-party rights apply. The purchase of a sentence grants only the rights expressly described in these Terms and does not transfer ownership of the platform, its software, trademarks, or any other intellectual property belonging to Assist Control S.R.L. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
We are committed to operating this Service indefinitely. In the event that we decide to permanently discontinue the Service, we will:

We do not issue warnings for severe violations. Content involving child exploitation, credible threats of violence, or incitement to crime will be acted on immediately and reported without prior notice to the submitter.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Own A Sentence and its operators, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of goodwill, arising from or in connection with your use of the Service.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising under or in connection with these Terms or the Service shall not exceed $10.00 USD — the amount you paid for your sentence.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Own A Sentence and its operators from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) the content of your sentence in any language; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property, privacy, or personality right.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will post a notice on the homepage for at least 30 days prior to the changes taking effect, and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For purchased sentences, any changes to the Content Policy apply prospectively only — we will not retroactively remove a previously approved sentence based solely on a new policy provision, unless that sentence contains content that is illegal under applicable law.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory local consumer protection laws require otherwise.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed from these Terms without affecting the enforceability of the remaining provisions. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and Own A Sentence in relation to the Service.
